Potty Training

Our time has come.

My little love started potty training.

Despite the backlash from family {love you guys}, I waited patiently for her day to come, as I always knew it would.

Today completes day 2, and so far so GOOD!

The whole thing has gone smoothly, completely effortless.

Well, I did prepare months ago with a potty chair, potty seat, uber snazzy panties, a grab bag of treats, a sticker chart, and I even brushed up on my cheer leading skills…I was READY to jump THAT bandwagon.

I knew once the time came, I would give it all of me. I wouldn’t push, simply encourage.

Saturday afternoon, we went running through a splash pad at our local mall, and Landyn decided she didn’t want her wet diaper on anymore. Her “new” bathing suit Aunt G just bought her, was enough. I ran with it, and there’s been no looking back. We took it a step further and took her to Target, with nothing but a t shirt and her bathing suit bottoms on. RISKY! All by herself, L told me she had to use the potty. Like a runaway train, I ran from one side of Target to the other and put my BIG GIRL on that potty. And guess what? It happened. My mom and I shouted, clapped, and jumped for joy, {I’m certain the entire store heard us}, and Landyn grined ear to ear. After that proud moment, I may have bought ALL of Target as her reward.

Since then we’ve had no accidents. No regression. Just a proud big girl learning the ropes of potty training. So far, Landyn tells me when she has to go, and my determined little, jets straight to that potty. Like a seasoned pro. I’m sure we will have accidents, set backs, and night time training will come with time. We are taking baby steps. One day at a time is my mantra.

Alright all you seasoned pros….what are YOUR potty training tips?

So awesome, gooooo Landyn!!! This is funny because last week was Nelia’s first week using the potty:) I never wanted to push her either, I knew she would let me know when she was ready. That has always worked for us. I don’t follow the books, etc. I just follow her cues. Anyways, we haven’t had any issues. Well, except for on day 2 we went to Red Robin for lunch and I think the novelty of using an actual restroom was quite awesome to her as we went in there 5 times during our 1-hr lunch. I was about to lose it, lol!!!! Anyways, hope it contines to go well for both of our girlies! xo

Awesome! And I have to say good job holding back until you knew she was ready, despite what other people thought. Not saying they were “bad” for it.. but ya know what I mean. Sometimes different things work for others even though it’s not the norm. I know I’ll be doing the same as you when I have a little one running around. Why make it harder than it already is?

  3. That’s awesome! I hope she keeps it up well!

  4. That’s terrific!! My second kiddo was like that. I say he trained in 1/2 a day and there really was no looking back for him! With some kids, it’s just so easy and that’s awesome that Landyn seems to have “gotten it” so well!! Yay!!!

I was so surprised by how easy it was to potty train the dude. He only had accidents for two days! I think waiting until he turned 3 probably helped. Haha!

  12. aww congrats to your sweet little girl!

Here’s how it went for us. I was definitely not as patient as you…I hated changing diapers.

  15. Love it! I am trying to wait for my little guy to be ready. Seems like boys are a little bit slower than girls in this department though, because he is just over 3 and I’m still waiting. ;)
