Weekend Reflection

One of the many advantages of living in southern California, is the ability to travel to the beach and the mountains, all in the same day.

And while home was enjoying 70 degree beach days, I got away to our local mountains this past weekend and enjoyed some cooler temps.

My first bed and breakfast experience…what a treat.

Dutch apple pancakes…heaven in your mouth…

This past weekend proved to be quite reflective for me. I was reminded of the pre baby Lindsay. The me that used to get out and do things for me. When you are a momma you live and breath just that, being a momma. You forget what your life was like before kids. You are so worried about the stresses of tomorrow that you forget to enjoy the present. And so this weekend, it was an effortless task to fold up the worry and stress of the future and focus on the right now. Take the opportunity to seek adventure, create memories, and open myself up to new beginnings.

You see, life is a double edged sword. You have to open yourself up to vulnerability in order to grow and experience beauty. And it can be uncomfortable at times. But it’s the realization of what could be, that has you living passionately and with purpose.

And on purpose I will.

I strapped on some skis for the first time in years, and it felt good. It’s strange how years can pass and all it takes is the flip of a switch and you can instantly get back to where you left off. I had beginner written all over me, but I was up, and to me that’s all that mattered. Being on that mountain flooded me with happy childhood memories that shaped who I am. It’s being reminded of where you came from, that proves that vulnerability can be worth every second. I think most importantly, it’s being in the presence of special company that can spark this emotion, is tangible proof that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. It is the most authentic connection. I am a happy girl.
I am refreshed. I am inspired. I am ready.

haha the bed and breakfast is sooo different from the ones in the UK !! It looks absolutely wonderful ! And oh my goodness you went skiing ! I’ve been wanting to go for the whole of this year but never got round to it. Looks like you had a fab time, and I totally agree it’s really nice to find time for yourself and enjoy the present when you have kids, otherwise the time just goes and you realise you didn’t really ‘live’ it!
